A medium weight wool jacket with 3 pockets and heavy twill trim with wool felt lettering on the back. This one of a kind jacket was made from a vintage wool banner for the Iowa state fair. The text read 'Iowa state fair presented by Maywood, Chicago Ill. 'The banner was a rare find and constructed with quality craftsmanship and probably dates back to the 1950s or older. The wool is of great quality and the lettering executed with skill. The jacket has a satin yolk inside, but is otherwise unlined. The jacket is constructed so that the edge of the banner is seen on the edges of the jacket and pockets, and one of the grommets is on the chest pocket as well. Metal buttons are used. The jacket shows some signs of it's previous life: there are several small mends on the piece, some light wear, some faint marks and a couple moth nibbles on the letters.
The flag was dry cleaned prior to construction and the jacket will need to be dry cleaned only.
